Pair of Vintage Carved Ironwood California Quail

Our California state bird is well represented here with this awesome pair of carved wood quails. We like to think it's a female and her man. He has the longer tail feathers and a more pronounced plume of feathers on his head.

Ironwood, also known as palo fierro, is dense thus heavy. The pair was possibly carved in the Sonora area of Mexico where use of this wood has been popular for decades.

The male quail stands 8 5/8" tall by 6 3/4" wide. The female stands 9" tall and is about 4 1/2" wide. The combined weight of the two is 2 pounds 14 ounces without packaging.

Recommended cleaning - Dust off with a soft cloth and if the wood looks dry use a small amount of butcher block oil on a cloth and wipe into the grain of the wood.
