Vintage Mexican Ceramic Brown Cat Figurine

This phenomenal ceramic cat was decorated using sgraffito (in Italian "to scratch"), a pottery technique produced by applying layers of color to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns and texture which reveal the clay color underneath. His "coat" is a terra cotta glossy glaze and the clay underneath is a grey color. Interesting choice of decorating style for a cat!

Our feline friend stands 4 3/4" high and is 6 1/4" wide and 3" deep. We think he was most likely made in Mexico.
